Help Brice Fight Liver Cirrhosis and Skin Cancer
Donation protected
Hey there everyone! I’m reaching out today with news about Brice’s health. He has recently been diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin and end stage liver cirrhosis. The cancer is on his nose and has become quite a sight (We named it Roy). The area is LARGE. It takes up the majority of his nose and is growing. We are working to get it taken care of as soon as possible.
As important as it is to remove the cancer, the cirrhosis is an even bigger concern. His illness is not because of alcohol abuse (although we all know he got a fair amount of drinking in during his earlier years!)(Back when he was young)(A long time ago)(Cause you’re old Brice, you get it). About 30% of the population has NAFL but Brice was unfortunately born with a gene that aggressively attacks the liver and causes rapid decomposition of the organ. He went from a small amount of fat in his liver to advanced cirrhosis within 6 months. This new situation has made it difficult for me to work a normal schedule and has stopped Brice’s ability to work almost completely (Such a Slacker right!?). This has hit us hard and going forward we believe the amount of time needed for medical issues will continue to increase and we will find ourselves further behind. (Yes Dad, I know you always told me to save at least three months, this is not the time for financial lessons)(Love you)
Getting Brice healthy - that is our only focus. We ask for your prayers and for this page to be shared as much as possible. The more people who know about my husband, the stronger his support system will become. If you happen to have a few extra bucks to help us out during the journey, it is appreciated.
I struggled writing this not knowing if it was the right time or if we even wanted to be so open about his health. Brice advocated to use this platform. He knew much earlier than me that it would be needed. I’ve realized now his gut feelings were correct (Yes Brice, I said you were right). This situation is much more dire than I wanted to believe. I still don’t want to believe. It’s been a gut punch (Tyson level) and not one we could brace ourselves for. While we didn’t see it coming we firmly believe things are exactly as they should be because God does not make mistakes.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers while we work to get his health back on track and help him regain his independence (Although I will forever hover over him a little more now). I’ve only had four years with this man (I put a ring on it fast, I knew I found gold) and there is no amount of time that will ever be enough. Brice brings a special energy with him, it’s always there. He leaves people feeling better about themselves, his calm nature eases anxiety and just makes your soul feel good - It is impossible not to enjoy the time you spend with him. I can’t sufficiently describe the impact he has on people but I know most of you have personally felt what I’m trying to express.
Please keep actively sending prayers his way and share this page if you are comfortable. We want his support system to grow as large as possible. It’s such an important component and with it comes more positive connections and opportunities he may not have without taking a chance and casting out the net. (I got a fishing reference in, Brice will be proud).
With love and gratitude, Melissa Purcell
