Hi Everyone,

I’m writing this on behalf of my fiancé, Briar. He’s the most hardworking, selfless man I know, and he would never ask for help himself — so I’m doing it for him.

For years, Briar has worked as a facility operator for the Town of Bracebridge, keeping our community’s recreation facilities and pools running smoothly. He’s the type of person who will quietly stay late to fix something so others can enjoy it the next morning, or lend a hand to a friend without expecting anything in return.

But this past year has turned our lives upside down.

In December 2024, Briar was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), a rare blood cancer. He started treatment right away, facing hospital visits, constant bloodwork, and all the physical and emotional toll that comes with a cancer diagnosis.

Then, just two months later, he started having severe chest pain and discomfort in his jaw and neck. We later learned that he had suffered a silent heart attack. Further tests showed severe multivessel coronary artery disease. Over the next several weeks, he underwent multiple procedures to have nine stents placed in his heart to keep him alive.

Right now, Briar is still not cleared to return to work, and his long-term disability income is much less than his usual earnings. This has made it difficult to keep up with day-to-day life while he focuses on recovery.

We’ve always been independent, but this situation has left us needing to ask for help. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward keeping us afloat and allowing Briar to focus on his health and healing.
