This is my brother. His name is Brian and he’s 61 years old. He doesn’t look or act his age! Until recently he was in very good shape. The only health problem he has is AFIB and because of that takes an anticoagulant. Just a couple days ago he was at work and fell from a roof. He is an independent Mr. Fix-it. He’s a one man crew and does small repairs and remodels. He was on a roof and as an expensive peice of equipment began to slide off the roof, he did too. It was a reflex to try to grab the tool as he lost his position and fell head first. He managed to maneuver himself so he didn’t fall straight onto his head. In the process he fractured his pelvis in two places and suffered internal bleeding as well. He managed to crawl on his elbows to his truck so he could call for help. He was then rushed to a trauma center an hour from his home. After they got his pain under control and dealt with the risks of bleeding and being on a blood thinner, he underwent a lengthy surgery. He has several incisions. The doctors have him non weight baring for 10 weeks, followed by orthopedic rehabilitation. He will not be able to work and support his family for 6 months or more. He has two children. One in sixth grade and one in third. His wife works full time graveyard shift and is also in a full time nursing program. As a man self employed there is no workman’s compensation to help. His medical insurance has a high deductible as well. Right now his wife is understandably upset and also incredibly grateful she still has her husband. She is scrambling to try to figure out how she will make everything work financially and also be able to help him recover. Any amount of funds are welcome and appreciated. The funds will be helpful for the medical deductible and copays. Gas for all the appointments he will need to attend away from their rural community. Also, to help cover any additional bills that his wife’s salary won’t be enough for. Thank you for reading and for considering donating to his cause.
