Brianna is my 14-year-old granddaughter, and she’s in the 8th grade. Four years ago, she lost her mother to COVID-related pneumonia, just as she was turning 10. That was supposed to be her golden birthday, but instead, she faced a heartbreak no child should ever have to endure. Only six months before, she lost her other grandmother to cancer, and on the very same day she lost her mom, she also lost her beloved cat, Chi-Chi. The grief was overwhelming for her, and she felt lost in a world that suddenly seemed so unfair and empty.
After these tragedies, I moved my son and Brianna into my home so I could support them both and help Brianna find her way again. Over the past 3-1/2 years, I’ve done everything I can to provide for her—clothes, shoes, and the basics her father hasn’t been able to manage. I’ve watched her grow into a resilient, kind, and hopeful young lady, despite all she’s been through.
Now, Brianna’s class has the chance to go on an educational trip to Washington DC, but the cost is more than I can handle alone. I’m reaching out for help, just as I did for her 10th birthday, when the kindness of others made a miracle happen for her. Every dollar raised will go directly to Brianna’s trip and her educational needs. Your support means the world to us, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping give Brianna this special opportunity.
