On August 20th, our lives changed in a matter of hours when a devastating fire destroyed our apartment building. I am creating this fundraiser for myself, Vrosie, and my household after this tragedy displaced more than 400 residents and left our building structurally unsafe. We are incredibly grateful that we made
it out safely, but unfortunately, we lost everything in the fire. Between the fire, severe smoke and water damage, and the structural collapse of the building, our home and everything inside of it is gone. We are now facing the reality of having to completely start our lives over from scratch. We left our home that day with only what we had on us and our 3 dogs, never imagining we wouldn’t be able to return to the life and belongings we had built there. Clothes, furniture, electronics, personal belongings, important documents, everyday necessities, and the things that made our apartment feel like home all have to be replaced. Donations will help us cover the urgent and overwhelming costs of rebuilding our lives, including temporary housing, clothing, food, transportation, replacing essential belongings and household items, obtaining replacement documents, and ultimately securing and furnishing a new place to call home. We never imagined we would be in a position to ask for this kind of help, but starting over comes with expenses that add up incredibly quickly. Every donation, no matter the amount, gives us one less thing to worry about while we navigate what comes next.
