Help Brian Wicka's Family in Their Time of Need

We mourn the loss of Journeyman Inside Wireman Brian Wicka, who was 54 years old and had been a Local 569 member for over 32 years. Born in Winona, Minnesota, Brian made his way to San Diego by early adulthood. His first post-high school interest was electronics, which he studied at Palomar Jr. College. This led him to an electronics position through Volt Temporary, then to a short-term position at Home Base Warehouse. Soon, Brian showed interest in Local 569 and all that we represent. He secured a Material Handler job with Davies Electric in June 1992, and by that December, Brian was indentured as an Apprentice Inside Wireman. He would continue to learn the trade at Southland, AEC San Diego, Chula Vista, King Electric, and Dynalectric. By his 7th apprentice period, Brian was dispatched back to Davies, where his Local 569 career had begun. Brian graduated as Outstanding Apprentice, and he and Davies Electric mutually benefitted. All told, Brother Wicka worked over 26 years with Davies. Brian had found his “home,” and the shop became part of his “family.” His hobbies were cars, construction, and off-roading in the desert. Brian was talented and resourceful, and we will miss him.

Brother Wicka is survived by his wife, Tammy Spinks, also a Local 569 member, and their three children.

We would like to collect funds to help Tammy and the three children in this time of need.
