Hello everyone, my name is Karrie Welch. I started this fundraiser along with his two sisters, Katie and Riley Till, to help offset medical expenses for Brian Till. Anyone fortunate enough to know Brian can tell you what a loving, compassionate, and gentle person he is. Brian was attending the University of Missouri with a bright future ahead of him.
About two years ago, Brian was tragically diagnosed with a severe mental illness that has led to serious complications and seizures. He has participated in numerous treatment programs at varying mental health facilities. Unfortunately, these treatments did not provide the specialized care he requires and his severe mental illness worsened.
With persistence, his parents found a facility in Florida in September 2020 that specializes in the treatment he requires. To continue to manage this illness, Brian’s doctors are requesting him to stay at the facility for long-term care. Unfortunately, health insurance does not cover the cost at this specialized mental health facility.
I am someone who knows Brian and his family well and can honestly say he and his parents have tried all the options which medical insurance provides. Please help me raise enough funds for Brian to be able to continue to get the help he needs.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Most of us mercifully have never required the kind of intensive specialized residential treatment Brian currently needs. Anyone who knows the Till family knows that they are very humble and incredibly giving when it comes to helping others in need. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
By Riley Till:
I write this with a very heavy heart.
I have one brother, Brian, who is my best friend. My entire life I have seen my brother put others before himself. Brian is a very special person with a big heart who can make anyone smile.
I want to share this for my brother to inform people that mental illness is something that needs more attention in this world and to be treated just as any other health condition, if not more. It is heartbreaking to write, and words cannot describe what it's like to live it. One does not understand the beast of mental illness and the constant underlying effects unless you live with it. I have seen my brother's episodes numerous times, turning him into someone he is not. I wish it were me instead. A mental illness is something that cannot always be cured. It is not something you know the exact cause of like others. This diagnosis requires constant care, treatment and attention. From the bottom of my heart, please keep Brian in your thoughts and prayers.
