Yesterday morning, my friend Brian was letting his dog Burkey out for his morning routine when something unimaginable happened. As soon as Brian opened the front door, he saw several coyotes at the bottom of the driveway attacking Burkey. Without hesitation, Brian rushed to his aid and managed to scare the coyotes off, but not before Burkey was seriously injured. Burkey passed out from the shock and only regained consciousness once inside. We immediately rushed him to the emergency animal hospital in Reno, where he was taken into surgery right away. The situation was so dire that the hospital even discussed putting Burkey down, but Brian refused to give up on his best friend. He made the brave decision to fight for Burkey and get him the best care possible.
After a tense night, Burkey made it through surgery and is now back home in Tahoe. While we are optimistic about his recovery, he still has a long road ahead. The medical expenses from the emergency surgery and ongoing care are overwhelming. Brian is one of the most devoted dog owners I know—he’s the person I trust to watch my own dog when I’m out of town. Burkey is alive today because of Brian’s big heart and quick action.
I’m setting up this fundraiser to help Brian cover the extensive medical bills and give Burkey the best chance at a full recovery. Any support you can offer would mean the world to Brian and Burkey. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help them through this incredibly tough time.
