Hello, my name is Brian Reza. I grew up in Chicago my whole life and didn’t do much growing up. I didn’t play sports or do much of anything, but I did want to play soccer. My parents always thought maybe it was a little phase I was going through, so they never put me into soccer or any sports. Years passed, and I was around 12 or 13 years old, and I really wanted to play soccer. So I told my parents, and they agreed. My family found me a team that didn’t give me a chance, and every practice, they made fun of how bad I was at soccer. All the players always treated me like an outsider, which made me really sad to the point that I cried in some practices, but that didn’t stop me because I found another team that gave me a chance, and I played with them for a while. The coach was nice, and he helped me a lot. During that time, I realized I wanted to play professional soccer. After I left that mean team, I tried joining one more team but didn’t do that well, which was when I started giving up on soccer because of my mental health, which was at a low point, and I was giving up a lot in soccer, school, and everything overall. Then I quit soccer for a good while. I finally realized I loved that sport, and it really made me happy when I was sad or not feeling well. So I started practicing every day for at least an hour and at most three hours, going for runs and working out. I started really taking it seriously, but then I went to tryouts and got denied. That motivated me to work even harder. A year later, last Sunday, I went to tryouts and got accepted, but the only problem is due to my family’s financial issues, which I cannot control, and I feel bad because my parents already have enough going on, and I don’t have much money to support myself due to my family having bigger issues to handle. I’ve always been focused on soccer, so the money I am trying to raise is for me. Please help me chase my dreams in soccer and be able to pay and play for Chicago City SC. I just want to be able to make my family proud and retire them when I am professional because I know as long as I work hard, anything is possible, especially with God by my side.
