We were at my husband's family's home directly across the Guadalupe River from Camp La Junta and owe our lives to our neighbor, Brian Keeper. In the midst of chaos while trapped on the 2nd floor of his family home as it was falling apart, Brian thought to alert us of the flooding as water was already coming into our house. Because of Brian, my family was able to make it to higher ground before the house filled with water. Brian also alerted the Towler Family upriver, and they were able to escape to their roof for safety. Please see the article detailing their story:

Brian and his dog, Fidel, thankfully survived, but his home and everything in it did not. I started this GoFundMe as a way to say thank you to this angel of a man who is the reason we were able to escape in time.
