Help Brian Murphy Fight Colorectal and Lung Cancer
Donation protected
First, we greatly appreciate you taking the time to read this and hope this finds you well. Unfortunately, my brother Brian Murphy is currently battling two different cancers; stage 3 colorectal and lung. This all came as a shock since he is only 34 years old! Brian received his original diagnosis of colorectal cancer in February 2024. While he was consulting with doctors to determine his best course of action, a different type of cancer was also found in his lungs at the Mayo clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. A diagnosis like this has been a shock to the doctors, given how young Brian is, but they are confident that the lung cancer was caught early and hope chemotherapy will take care of it. He is currently halfway through his first round of intravenous chemotherapy (16 weeks) and has a long road of treatment ahead.
Brian’s positive outlook and willingness to fight this is an inspiration to all of us around him. He initially thought he would be able to work in between treatment sessions. However, the aggressive chemo treatments prevent him from functioning on most work days. He has only been able to go to work 3 times over 5 months. His wife, Mary, has taken on a second job and even donates plasma each week trying to support Brian and their soon to be 9 year old daughter, Sophie. Mary and Brian have been working hard to keep their family afloat. Since Brian has quite a fight ahead of him with more chemotherapy and three removal surgeries planned, we hope to provide support so Brian and Mary can focus on their family and battling cancer instead of financial stress. Gifts to this fund will help them directly manage medical expenses, travel to and from out of state treatments, assistance covering living expenses, and anything else they need to make life a little easier during such a challenging time.
In addition to cancer, the Murphy family has been dealt a challenging hand between our Dad’s heart issues requiring a heart transplant in May 2024, our younger brother Kyle battling Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy requiring round the clock care, and building the family back up after our convicted uncle created a Ponzi scheme to steal millions from the family and friends in 2003. Despite these challenges, I know we can rise above, but we need support.
We greatly appreciate you taking the time to read and ask you for any emotional and financial support you can provide as Brian deals with the perfect storm of health and financial issues.
