Help Brian Loew WIN This Battle
On Sunday, June 13 the Loew house was rocked as Josh, Brady and Tori made the brave and smart choice to save their fathers life and call 911. When I arrived at the ER I was not prepared for what I heard. I was looking at a man who was not there. I was terrified. I felt a doctors hand across my shoulders, “Mrs. Loew your husband has had a stroke, he is bleeeding in his brain and is temporarily paralyzed on his right side. We are giving him medicine to try and control his blood pressure and he is being admitted into the ICU. A Neurologist will meet with you as we wait to assess the full damage and next steps.” I watched as Brian could not communicate, was frustrated, scared and confused. They were poking him and proding him. I quickly learned that while their first response was fast paced nothing else would be. Slow and steady, baby steps would be the next phase. As we now being to Patiently wait…wait for his blood pressure to go down , wait for his BP to stay stable, wait for CAT scan results, wait for regained feeling in his right side, wait for his words to make sense, wait for him to be more alert. Every time I walk into his room I leave encouraged that he is taking small tiny baby steps toward a recovery. He’s trying more and more to communicate and our ability to understand each day is a little better. His BP is becoming more controllable and staying more stable. He is being weaned off medicine. He is following commands on his left side and responding to questions more accurately. I feel thankful and blessed. Thankful that my kids reacted and that Brian is still here. So Blessed by the community and family out reaching. The support, encouragement, prayer and care is helping us through each day. Carrying us and providing for needs. Please continue to pray and reach out as this is the begin of a LONG journey. We are feeling the heaviness and weariness setting in. We know that God is holding us and giving us what we need when we need it. If you know Brian you know he is strong and a fighter!! When we cheer at baseball games and the batter finds themselves in a tough count. They are continuing to hit foul balls and not giving up. I find myself saying “win it , win the battle”. That is my cheer for Brian … WIN IT, WIN THE BATTLE!
