Hey, it’s Brian. I’m posting this because my partner Holly out in Seattle just got stuck with what I can only call an “unpaid leave from hell” scenario and we desperately need help to fix it.
Holly, working with their prescriber, took some leave off of work to safely figure out a new prescription regimen. This was supposed to be followed by a slow part time return to work building into full time. Long story short…parts of the leave that were expected to be paid ended up being determined unpaid and this is wreaking financial havoc.
During this leave, their apartment complex did not end up renewing the lease and now Holly needs to find a new apartment by June 30. That’s going to include application, holding, and deposit funds not currently available. Return-to-work income has JUST started for the part-time but it’s not going to be enough and is spread out too long to solve immediate problems.
To make matters worse, our beloved green cheek conure Chicken has been afflicted with a sudden nasty red lumpy growths on her leg. We were able to use the help we already received to take her to the emergency vet when she started bleeding, but she needs surgery which could end up being over a grand….
Return-to-work income has JUST started for their part-time schedule, but it’s not even going to be enough to pay June's rent and by the time things are back to normal, it's going to be too late to solve all of the immediate problems.
With everything collapsing in at once like this, we’re trying every resource we can think of including federal and company bill relief and apartment support options, niche avian pet hardship fund applications, payment plans, selling plasma, selling furniture, selling game consoles, Uber Eats, DoorDash, and things are still so scary we’re doing this too.
Anything helps. If you don’t want to use GoFundMe for any reason you can message me with any preferred alternative (People have also reached out on Venmo and Zelle which don’t take a cut). I’m happy to answer any questions. Thank you so much. I hate doing this…I just need everything to be ok.
