Help Us Care for Dad After His Second Stroke

My dad, Brian Floyd, has been a fighter his whole life. 23 years ago, he suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed and in need of special care. Our family has been dedicated to ensuring he receives the love, respect, and support he deserves. Now, after a second stroke, we're facing new challenges and significant expenses.

We're seeking help to cover the costs of:

- Uncovered hospital expenses
- Pharmacy costs
- Medical equipment for his care at home
- Travel expenses for out-of-state family members to assist with his care
- Future extended living care for his special needs

Our goal is to raise $30,000-$50,000 to ensure Dad receives the care he needs without financial burden. Any contribution, big or small, brings us closer to our goal.

When I was 13, my dad had his first stroke. It was a devastating time for our family, but my mom's kindness and love led her to care for him despite their divorce. We've had our ups and downs over the years, but Dad has always been a fighter. In the time that he has been paralyzed we have faced severe adversaries dealing with disability, insurance and other governement aide. We have been denied for medicaid everytime we have applied and will be forced to take over power of attorney for him to insure we can fight for his rights when he can't fight for himself. We had previously battled to keep his social security benefits with the state of Alaska and lost a suite with the state that he will be paying for the rest of his life. Now, we're facing a new chapter in his care, and we need your support.

On Tuesday evening I recieved a call from my sister around 1130pm letting me know that my Dad had been taken to providence via ambulance because he was experiencing stroke symptoms. We are very lucky that he is still here with us and now are facing many hours of rehabilitation. This is going to be a long journey of getting him strong and keeping him healthy is my main priority. At the end of the day we can no longer take care of him on our own and we need help from our community.
Losing a parent is every child's worst nightmare. But losing a parent because you can't provide the necessary care is a fear I can't bear. I'm scared for my family, and I need your help.

Please consider contributing to our campaign and sharing it with your network. Every bit counts, and your support means the world to us.

Thank you for reading our story and for your kindness.

Sincerely,
Sara Riedel
