Hi, our names are Nichole Korb and Jessica Radtke-Seaney, daughters and stepdaughters to the victims of the Country Road 633 house fire. The house caught fire in the early morning and is a complete loss of everything. My mother had fallen asleep in the bath and had woken and come out to the living room where my stepdad was sleeping. She hears a hissing sound coming from their propane space heater, wakes my stepdad up as he told her to get out of the house he tried to get the heater out, the heater ignited and the house starting burning rapidly. With no shoes, no clothes on, my mother ran to neighbors' houses trying to find help. As both cell phones were inside the house. Suffering from multiple previous health conditons that don't allow her to walk well without a cane, she fell multiple times running to get help and trying to break a window to get the dogs out of the home. She is suffering from smoke inhalation and severe pain located in her back, legs and knees. She is not able to stand on her own and will not be released from the hospital until she can. She suffered significant blows to her knees from falling multiple times to get help. The temperature was in the mid 20s with a light dusting of snow on the ground. My stepdad was airlifted to Grand Rapids hospital with severe burns, we believe he tried going back in for the dogs. They found him unconscious near the back entrance to the house. He was in ICU for 2days and is stable in recovery. He has about 10% body coverage in burns. He suffered serious burns to both feet, hands, head, face and back. He will be recovering in a wheelchair due to the severe burns on his feet and won't be released for 5days. Both suffering from multiple blackouts during this traumatic event, my parents have a long recovery both physically and mentally. Both in wheelchairs. We are so grateful they are alive.
When the house caught fire and we believe their 2 dogs escaped and are hiding in the woods. One is a 2month old brindle boxer American bulldog mix, Bruiser, and an adult 7yr old female black Pitbull, Emma. We have looked for 2 days and found puppy tracks and adult tracks leading away from the house. We've walked 12miles on foot thru woods and put in 2 days of searching online and in the woods. We have messaged K9 recovery. No luck. All my parents keep asking about are these beloved dogs. Any help, please help. The dogs are all they have left. All animal shelters and controls have been contacted. If found contact me here or on the FB Lost and Found Pets Grand Traverse County and look for Emma and Bruisers post!! Lost on County Rd 633 between Norton Rd. and Hilltop.
I thank you for all you can do for my family in this hard time. The unimaginable happens so quickly, it's people and community like this that give such heart, it gives others hope.
Physical donations can be dropped off at SLEEP INN AND SUITES IN ACME.
Thank you again,
Nichole Korb
