Hello!
My name is Brian Nguyen. I am currently 27 years old with a dream to make art to inspire others. I have been working as a full-time artist for the past year, freelancing for private art collections and homes. Though it has always been my dream to do art full-time, there was something missing. I realized that it was not reaching enough people to make me feel like I am inspiring others. After being a part of multiple exhibitions at museums and galleries, I started to understand that I needed to make something that was not just bigger, but could spread joy on a daily basis. This world has not been easy to live in these past couple of years and I think we all need a little bit of laughter every now and then.
That is where this idea of making a life-size road-legal Porsche 911 came about. I have always loved cars growing up. The past year, I spent a lot of time at car shows displaying and talking about my automotive-themed artwork. I met some amazing people and fell down the rabbit hole of the Porsche community. I recently was at a private event with a ton of Porsche people and heard so many amazing stories about specific cars and builds. I thought it would be amazing if I had my own crazy story to tell. Being an artist, I did not have the money to afford one of these cars, but always dreamed of it. This life-size Lego Porsche idea would solve all of the problems I had with my career. It would allow me to become an actual part of the car community, bring smiles on the daily, and also share my work and inspire hundreds of people every day. This would be a working car that I can drive to car shows and be basically a photo op for the kids and adults, maybe even go on rallies across the states.
Now I know that this is a crazy idea, but I have spent 10 years woodworking and building random things. I am more than confident I would be able to make this work. The budget is kind of crazy because project Porsche 911s already run in the $20k+ range, and those would still need a ton of work. I am estimating on spending about $40k on a running car alone, and then the body/interior build cost on top of that as well as paint and finishing touches. I would also have to rent out a studio space where I can keep the car outside of the elements while stripped. Literally any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. I could use some in terms of money, parts, advice, or connections!
I would like to create it as accurate and similar to the Lego model as possible, but with a few minor changes to combat practicality and function. The body panels would be either replaced with hand sculpted reclaimed wood panels, or have the wood panels stacked over existing body. Maybe fiberglass over the wood. Interior would be done with leather as I do have experience working with leather as well. I would like to keep the car as original to the model as possible, so either a Targa or Turbo depending on what chassis I get (most likely targa as those are much more affordable).
I plan to create a YouTube channel, Instagram, and TikTok to record the entire process of building it and where all the money is going.
Also, for any large donations, please feel free to reach out to me and I can make you some artwork as a thank you. Any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and hope to see you at a car show in the future!
