Help Brian Bose Avoid Eviction and Stay Housed

My Dear Friends, Family, Allies, Accomplices, & Beloved Community,

I reach out to you today from a place of deep vulnerability, sharing my current struggle in the hopes of finding support within our incredible community. As a black queer freelancing artist, I have often found strength in the bonds we share, but right now, I find myself facing the looming threat of eviction. I am asking for your help as I navigate this challenging moment in my life.

Due to being fired, I have fallen behind on my rent. The stress of potentially losing my home is overwhelming, and I have reached the point where I need to ask for support. I have set up this GoFundMe campaign to raise $7,000 to cover my overdue rent, December rent, utilities, and food to prevent my eviction from the place I call home. Not only do I fear displacement, but I worry about the potential future consequences/challenges an eviction will have on my record.

This is difficult for me to share with you all, as I’ve always held a belief in self-reliance. The vulnerability of admitting that I need assistance goes against a lot of what I’ve been taught as a Black child: to be strong, to rely on myself. The hypervigilance of this mindset is isolating. But life has a way of reminding us that we are not meant to walk this journey alone. I recognize that reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness but an acknowledgment of my strength and our shared resilient humanity. It’s a reminder that we are stronger when we lean on one another and embody the spirit of mutual aid. As I approach the possibility of losing my home, it has become painfully clear that community is essential. I know I am not alone in this experience.

I live at an Artist Loft complex where I have not only found a home but a place with amenities (i.e. a dance studio, art studios, etc.) that I use for work and artistic development along with a vibrant diverse community of fellow artists that I’ve shared space with, collaborated with, and have grown to love. I’m grateful to know that the housing managers here do not want to evict me and have acquiesced a couple more months to allow more time for me to figure things out – hence my higher goal amount. Despite my best efforts to find relief, I’m now facing the harsh reality of looming deadlines and insufficient resources. Unfortunately, Door Dashing has only helped me with covering gas, toiletries, and some food outside of the $290/month I’ve received in food stamps.

All hope is not lost though. I am currently in the hiring process securing a new job I am really passionate about. Once that position is secured, I will have the income to cover my housing & basic needs moving forward.

Whether you're able to contribute financially or not, sharing this GoFundMe & my story with your own community/networks would mean the world to me. After all, spreading the word can help me find the support I desperately need. If I can get 100 people to contribute $70, or 200 people to contribute $35, or even 300 people to contribute $23, then BOOM – we’ve reached the finish line. No matter how big or small, each contribution brings me closer to securing my stability, expunging this eviction from my record, and allows me the capacity to focus on rebuilding my life in a sustainably abundant way.

Whether we’ve lived together, loved together, worked together, SLAYED together, or if we’re meeting for the first time via this campaign, THANK YOU for taking the time to read my story. Your compassion and support, in whatever form they take, light the path for me to move forward. Together, we can show that love and community can overcome even the toughest of times.

With limitless love and gratitude,
Brian Bose
