In space, only your government regulated boyfriend can hear you scream.
Greetings, Earthlings! We are Jenna Rush (playwright) and Jaye Hunt (director) and this is The Brian Wilson Space Experiment. Jenna began writing this play in 2015, which led to a workshop production in Austin, Texas. Now, ten years later, we are excited to bring it to NYC!
The first step on this journey was a sold out reading at Brooklyn Art Haus in August 2025, which was entirely self-funded. Now we have received the opportunity to do another workshop production at The Tank in March, and we need your help!
What is The Brian Wilson Space Experiment?
When Ken and Sarah, two total strangers, are sent to space as part of a government “experience”, they seize the chance to reinvent themselves - new names, new identities, a new kind of love. But as they (now Brian and Willie) hurtle through the stars towards Mars, their fragile, burgeoning love is tested by isolation, the memory of what was left behind, and the knowledge that there may be someone (or something) else out there with them. That particular something awakens feelings in Willie that Brian may never understand. A darkly funny, tender, and time-bending exploration of intimacy, identity and what survives when you’re light-years from everything you thought you knew.
Where does your donation go?
Our main focus is paying our artists (actors, stage manager, and designers) what they're worth. After paying them an initial stipend, any money raised over our goal will be divvied up among the artists. We will also use the money to give our designers budgets to help build the world of the play, and of course cover administrative costs like rehearsal space and printing.
Mainly, your donation goes to bringing an exciting new play into its next chapter. You will be among the first to support a play in its development stage! We can't wait to go on this journey with you.
