Life can change in an instant—and for Brian, Krista, and their family, that moment came when Brian suffered a major medical emergency.

Brian, a hardworking provider who spends most of his time working as a commercial fisherman off the coast of BC, was suddenly struck with a life-threatening health crisis that left his kidneys severely damaged. He is now undergoing dialysis with the hope that his kidneys can recover—but his battle doesn’t end there. The emergency also caused serious damage to his extremities, severely affecting his mobility and leaving him with an uncertain path to recovery.

What followed was a whirlwind of hospital transfers—first in Prince Rupert, then Prince George, and now Kelowna, where Brian is finally closer to home and to Krista, making it easier for her to be by his side as he begins the long road to healing.

This crisis has deeply impacted every aspect of their lives. Krista, a full-time working mother, has been stretched impossibly thin— trying to be by Brian’s side as much as possible, managing their household in Coldstream, and raising teenagers—all while navigating a future that’s suddenly full of so many unknowns.

Brian was the primary provider for their family. With him unable to work, the financial toll is starting to feel overwhelming. Travel expenses, missed work, and other costs easily start to pile up. And as they focus on Brian’s recovery—something that will require time, therapy, and continued specialized care—the financial strain will only grow.
