Assist Brian & pupBabez as they persevere through the ashes

Donation protected
The Park Fire has stripped lifetime Cohasset resident Brian Apel of all he had, with the exception of the clothes on his back, his dog Babez, and a few needed tools he threw in the back of a neighbor's truck when the fire started. When the erratic Park Fire suddenly shifted and came unexpectedly from the opposite direction, it came with a vengeance. As it raged across Vilas towards him and across the main road, he knew it was time to give up the fight. He sought shelter with fire crews and the few neighbors who remained, where he watched his childhood cabin, (an iconic landmark in our community) go up in flames. When the flames died down, he immediately headed to the neighbors’ places and found them both still standing. He worked side by side with those neighbors putting out hot spots, determined to keep them standing. Brian has continued to remain by his neighbors’ sides and check on and do all he can to protect what remains in his beloved community. His spirits remain positive despite all that has been lost. We are grateful for this man who has continued to give his all during this tragedy. We are seeking funds to purchase necessary supplies for Brian and Babez when we are allowed to leave and return, as well as securing Brian and Babez housing of their own.
