Help Brian after he was hit by a truck

Donation protected
I am Brian's neighbor and someone who cares deeply for a man who has always been kind and generous to others, loves life and all it offers, and truly has been fighting for his life after his world turned upside-down by a sudden event that we all know could happen to us (or our loved ones), but hope it never does.

Brian was walking home, shining a flashlight and wearing highly visible clothing when he was hit, full speed - by a truck - while crossing the street on a designated crosswalk that many east-side Tucsonans use on a regular basis. The driver never applied the brakes and never realized he hit him. The driver stopped after he heard something, thinking someone hit him, and then saw Brian and called 911. No further information is available because this is still under investigation. This means no insurance is available to pay hospital bills until the investigation is complete. Bureaucracy is complicated.

Most people are not going to survive being hit by a truck at 40-45 miles an hour. But a miracle was in store for Brian. His love for his wife, little girl, and joy of living kept him fighting through the pain and hanging on to life. Brian has been in ICU for three weeks to date and will have a long recovery ahead.

Brian is the sole provider and will be unable to work for quite a long time. Because of his position, he wasn't able to secure any disability for the first three months and the whole family is questioning how to pay mounting medical bills that are likely to continue far beyond any insurance or disability payment -- and still be able to pay their mortgage, grocery bills, and everything else a family needs to survive. His wife is now caring for Brian and their daughter full time.

Brian suffered fractured ribs so bad, immediate surgery was required so he could breathe at all. He also has a fractured skull, shattered arm, lacerated kidney, and other injuries. Despite this - he is fighting and winning. But the impact this unfortunate event will have on his family's ability to financially support themselves, despite any payments that will hopefully come through eventually, is extremely hard to manage.

Please donate what you can for this amazing family to help them get through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Any donations will go to help Brian and his wife and daughter stay afloat and pay for medical bills that aren't covered by insurance limitations and the limited disability he will receive several months from now.

Thank you for what you can do.
