Help Brian Access Essential Insulin Supplies

Donation protected
My son Brian is a type 1 diabetic, diagnosed at age 12, which means he is completely dependent on insulin to stay alive. He currently works full time as does my husband and I. He has always been a very athletic, empathetic, intelligent, hard working person who never misses a chance to give back to his community. Recently his insulin intake needs have increased and though we have insurance it does not cover insulin or supplies that are needed beyond the 90 day prescription amount so we have to pay put of pocket. On July 9th he was rushed to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for DKA (A complication of diabetes in which acids build up in the blood to levels that can be life-threatening). This is where we learned he had been trying to conserve insulin because he knew we could not afford the cost of the extra insulin. I have never been so ashamed of myself in that moment. His supplies for each 90 day period include 9 Dexcom G6 sensors, 30 Omnipod 5 pumps, 4 vials of insulin, 180 test strips at minimum, 180 lancets, and 30 key tone strips. Our insurance pays most of the costs but it's still very expensive. This medication is life sustaining and essential. We are trying to get the money together to pay for his extra insulin until next refill. Please consider helping him live his life without constant worry of rationing insulin.
