Bria Bridges turned 27 on February 10, 2021. A week later, she was told she has masses in her breasts. After completing the genetic testing, she was confirmed positive for BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations, both of which increase her likelihood of contracting breast cancer substantially. As the youngest of 8 children, she is the first; and hopefully the last; to be warned of such a dire threat so early in her life.
Bria is a mother to her daughter Kennedy (4), and her bonus children Anayla (11), CJ (11), and Camina (5).

She is also a loving wife to her husband, Colin Bridges.

At this stage, she is very grateful to have caught this as early as she did since this is not the first-time death has darkened her family’s door.
Her father, Joseph Hamlett, died of a heart attack in 2003 when he was 44. Her brother Leonard Conway was crushed under an MTA bus a year later when he was 11. Unfairly, early deaths have been a pattern in this family far too often. And her mother Linda Hamlett passed in 2016 when she was 50.
When Linda was 36, she was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer. She fought hard to stay alive for her family, long before she knew of the tragedies that would befall them later and went into remission. But afterwards, she did not continue to monitor the cancer. It returned swiftly and took over her body. By the time she was diagnosed again, she was at the final stage and was gone within a month.
Bria is happy to have had 14 more years with her, and as many years as she did with her father and Leonard; but she needed more. And now, more than anything, it is Bria’s goal to stay on this earth with her family for as long as she can. To do this, she has been advised to undergo a double mastectomy.
The insurance will cover most of her costs, but in order to cover the procedure and reconstructive surgery she will need to raise $50,000.00.
Her goal is the raise at least $14,000.00 by May so she can get the procedure done as soon as possible. The rest of the funds will go not only to her reconstructive surgery, but to maintain the upkeep and continued normalcy of the children’s lives during this challenging time.

She is willing to undergo this difficult and extreme change not for herself, but for her kids, her husband, her siblings, and her remaining friends and family. She has already experienced such profound losses in her short life thus far and doesn’t wish that pain on anyone.
To prolong her life, and hopefully stop the spread, please help us raise the money she needs. Being proactive is the number 1 defense she has and every cent truly counts.
The Bridges, Conway, and Hamlett family cannot take anymore loss. We are grateful for anything you can give to help her in this fight!
