Bri Ponziano—my niece Saige Grossi’s partner of 11 years and a big part of our family—has always been full of life. Her smile lights up every room, and she has a rare gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved. She’s a huge Swiftie and truly thinks Taylor Swift walks on water, is a talented artist, was a dedicated pastry chef at South Lake Hospital in Clermont, Florida, and has a passion and love for animals. About two years ago, Bri began experiencing weakness in her hands. At first, she thought it was carpal tunnel from years of hands-on work and her love of video games. The reality, however, was far more serious: ALS.
Since her diagnosis, Bri has faced every challenge with courage, strength, and unwavering positivity. Even as she loses the use of her hands and arms, relies on a feeding tube, and now uses a motorized wheelchair, she continues to smile and fight every day. Her spirit inspires everyone who knows her, and she remains a constant source of joy and laughter for her friends and family.
Now, Bri needs a customized wheelchair that can be controlled with her eyes. This specialized chair is essential for maintaining her independence, safety, and dignity. It will allow her to perform daily activities, include power tilt and recline features for comfort and positioning, and support speech-generating technology to help her communicate as speaking becomes more difficult. Unfortunately, these wheelchairs are incredibly expensive, and insurance often does not cover the full cost. Every donation—no matter the amount—brings Bri one step closer to the mobility and quality of life she deserves. If you’re able to support or share this message, it would mean more than words can express. Thank you for helping us lift Bri up during this journey and for being part of her fight.
