We are reaching out during one of the most challenging times in our lives. My husband, Brett, is facing his second retinal detachment that happened Sunday unexpectedly while at the store, a condition that threatens not only his vision but his ability to continue providing for our family. With four little ones depending on him, this has been a devastating blow for all of us.

Unfortunately, Brett’s insurance won’t kick in until March, and delaying surgery till then would risk permanent blindness—not just in the affected eye but potentially in the other as well. As the strain could cause it to redetatch. The out-of-pocket cost for this surgery is between $8,000 and $10,000, a figure we simply cannot manage on our own with everything else happening.

On top of the surgery itself, Brett will require weeks of recovery, during which he won’t be able to work. As the sole provider for our family, this adds another financial strain to an already overwhelming situation. While I run my own photography business, it’s currently the slow season, and I haven’t had any bookings since October, leaving us with no additional income to fall back on.

Brett is the rock of our family, his health and eyesight are vital for our family’s future. Beyond this urgent medical crisis, we are also grappling with other challenges, like needing to repair our home’s foundation. But Brett’s health takes priority, and we need your help to make this surgery happen as soon as possible.
