Help Brett and Ruby get a new a home!

Hi all,

We are Jessie, Kyle and Kobe Wigmore and our Dad, Brett and his best mate Ruby lost their Sprinter van which was also their home to an unexpected fire on morning of the 18th of May at the Ocean Grove golf course/boat ramp car park.

Brett and Ruby have been living out of a van for the past 10 years and have loved every day of it. After dealing with a couple of dud vans, they finally got the perfect van last year. This was short lived however as an electrical fault created a fire that was “harder to put out than a house fire”, according to one of the firemen, took it all away from them.

Brett is as local to the bellarine and the surf coast as the Barwon Heads bluff having lived in the area for decades. He is well known and respected amongst the surfing community to which he has a great passion for. He’s also a passionate golfer and spends nearly every waking moment with his pooch Ruby who is also loved amongst the community.

When the fire took hold of the van, he barely made it out with anything. He managed to just make it out with only his golf clubs, surf boards and guitar with the help of young Jack-o of the OG golf club who was just passing by at the time. After this Brett and Ruby could only stand back and watch as their home burned to the ground

As unfortunate as this is event was, there was no fire insurance on the van and Brett does not have the funds available to get a new van to live in. He and Ruby are able to stay with family until they get back on their feet.

We are hoping with the help of the wonderful community to raise enough money to help our Dad get a new home on wheels and some of his other possessions back.
