Earlier this year, our mom was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, went through chemo, and my dad had a major heart attack. Unfortunately another big event has happened with our family over the weekend.

For those of you who don’t know, our dad Bret Bott, had an unexpected stroke and was admitted to the ER last Friday night.

His stroke was a pretty big one, deep into the left side of his brain, causing his whole right side of his body to be really weak, close to being partially paralyzed.

He was then admitted to the Neurological floor in the hospital, and has been there for the last 4 days. He will then be transferred downstairs to do some extensive physical therapy at the Neuro Specialty Rehabilitation Unit.

As of now, he cannot walk by himself. He is able to eat by himself with his left hand, eating soft foods. He is able to communicate, but has trouble coming up with the right words. His speech is slurred still, which is very frustrating for him. For those of you that know him personally, you know that he is the most independent and stubborn person, so we all can’t imagine what he is going through. However, through all of these hard things our dad is having to deal with, we are still seeing small improvements every day which is such a big blessing!

We are so thankful to see progress, and to see our dad learning to have the abilities that he once had. We are so thankful for everyone that has a ready reached out to our family, especially our mom, April. She, my dad, and all of us are so grateful to have such loving and supportive family and friends.

A lot of people have asked what they can do to help, and us siblings have all agreed that between all the major events happening this year to our parents, money would be the most beneficial help, especially not knowing how well our dad will recover from this stroke. We are preparing for the worst, but also hoping for the best. Any donation is SO appreciated.
