Help My Son Replace His Car After a Fire
Hello, my name is Brent, and I’m reaching out today to share something that happened to my son.
Earlier today, my son called me as he arrived at the University of West Florida in Pensacola to meet friends for a workout and some pickup basketball after class. While getting his gear out of his car, he noticed smoke coming from underneath his driver’s seat. He called me right away to tell me that part of the seat bracket was glowing red and smoking.
I told him to run into the gym and grab a fire extinguisher while I contacted campus police and fire rescue. I was just down the road and rushed over immediately, but by the time he returned, it was already too late. His car was completely engulfed in flames. Together with hundreds of students, faculty, and campus police, we could only watch as it burned and exploded multiple times—it looked like fireworks, but it was heartbreaking to see.
Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt, but he was emotionally devastated. His vehicle had just been repaired after months of saving up—he had finally been able to replace the radiator and water pump this past weekend and was so proud to have his car back. He only had it for two days before this tragic fire on October 22nd.
My son is an incredible young man—hardworking, responsible, and dedicated. He’s a 4.5 GPA student now attending the University of West Florida on a full scholarship, balancing a full course load and work. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the means to replace his vehicle, which he needs to get to school and his job.
I wish I could help him myself, but I’m currently going through a difficult divorce and simply don’t have the resources right now. His old 2003 Tahoe—gifted to him by his aunt—wasn’t fancy and the air conditioner barely worked, but he was proud of it and grateful just to have a way to get around.
We’re humbly asking for any help you can give to help him get back on the road. No amount is too small—every bit brings him closer to getting another vehicle and moving forward from this difficult setback.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for any support, prayers, or shares you can offer. It truly means the world to us.
With gratitude,
Brent
