“We lost One of the Great Ones”-Brent Bispo, 60, on December 2nd in a tragic accident that has sent a shockwave throughout the community. Brent grew up in the usually rugged Central Coast waves and was known as “fiercely loyal” to his family, friends and community. Brent was a big wave surfer, surfboard shaper, master craftsman, boatman, fisherman, captain at the volunteer Mid-Coast Fire Brigade in Palo Colorado, co-founder of the Big Sur water rescue program where he lived and protected us as a certified First Responder and ocean rescuer. He is a legend in the local surfing community. His premature departure is extremely difficult to comprehend and a shocking, terrible loss to his beautiful wife Judy, his family members, friends and a wide spread population on the Monterey Peninsula, Big Sur, the Central Coast and the worldwide surfing community.
