I have known Brent the majority of my life, I have grown up with, both, him and Jaime. Many of you have as well, some have even watched Brent grow up through our church. The different groups of friends we have, from the music scenes that we have been a apart of, to high school friends to the lifelong friends ... Right now, my friend, our friend is in need of our help. While he is very much so a private person, so much so that he isn't on Facebook, and he is also quite prideful, that this is seeking help from others is hard but necessary right now. The following text message , I received this weekend from Brent, please read.
"I wanted to give you an update of my health situation. As you know I underwent kidney cancer removal in February and was doing well. I went on a much needed vacation in mid May and had even started going back to work. At the beginning of June I started having discomfort in my back and thought it was a pulled back muscle. The discomfort turned into unbearable pain. In June I also had a CAT scan to see how everything was doing. They found cancerous nodules in my lungs. Come to find out a little bit later that the pain in my back was a cancerous nodulation in the organ bed where my kidney once was.
I started treatment this week which is not like chemo in that I don’t have any crazy side effects. This treatment study has proven successful to the point I should expect to at minimum have some sort of remission and potentially cure the cancer. I am hopeful the treatment addresses the pain that I am living with that on a daily basis so that I can return to a somewhat normal role in my life. I hope to be at work and hanging out with my friends sooner rather than later. This is a hiccup in my recovery. A rather large hiccup but I intend to do everything in my power to beat this.
I believe I have a good chance with the enormous support I have been flooded with by friends and family. Please continue to send positive vibes and prayers my way as I will need all that I can get. Hope to see you around soon. Thank you."
The monies contributed at this time will go directly to helping their family, at this time. From Monthly bills, their mortgage, and to help keep as much of a normal life as possible for their two daughters. If you cannot contribute financially, we understand and are forever in debt to your kindness and prayers sent to him and his family. If you would please share this link to any and all of your social media, I would truly appreciate it. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I am truly grateful for anyone who has taken the time to read this and for all the love, prayers and support to the Reeder Family during this time.
Thank You.
