Hello, my name is Brent Head, or BhD The DJ. I am a musician and DJ living in Columbia, Missouri, where I was born and raised, and where I attend the University as an aspiring teacher. I have been heavily involved in the music scene for over a decade, creating my own flavor of electronic and hip-hop music, DJing two radio shows at KOPN, and putting together community-focused events aimed at platforming new, under-represented, local, and independent artists that exist outside of the mainstream.

On May 6th, I pulled out my skateboard for the first time in two years to go to class, and figured I would stop at the skate park afterwards. While getting my bearings, my board slipped from underneath me, and I slammed my hip on the pavement. After realizing I couldn't move my leg, I called an ambulance, got lifted out of the park in a bag because it hurt too much to move, and spent two hours in intense pain trying to get on my back on a stretcher in the hallway. After getting X-rays, I was informed that I fractured my femur, and had to get surgery the next day. I will be on crutches for a while, but am making progress in my recovery.

I am making this GoFundMe because I do not make a lot of money and live in an apartment that is really not accessible. I have had to start doing vinyl mixes for my radio show because I can't stand, and I have to order carry-out or eat frozen meals because cooking is too taxing on my body. I cannot drive, cannot lift things, and will need assistance with a lot of aspects of my daily life. I am confident that I will recover and bounce back, but this injury has put me in a position where I need help. I am thankful that I have friends and a supportive community to help during this time.

I am currently working on some music projects that donors will be able to access when it is complete if they desire. One a vulnerable project expressing frustrations I experience as an independent musician and will take the form of a mixtape, and another is a limited-release lathe cut vinyl. I sincerely thank anyone who has the means to help me out in this difficult time, and will continue to do my best.
