Help Brendon with his Private Pilot License
Hi, my name is Brendon and I am an 16 year old aspiring Commercial Airline Pilot. Since my first flight to Disney World, I knew I wanted to be a pilot. While my peers wanted to be sport players or in the medical field, I was always questioned by them why a pilot? Until my first introductory flight, I did not have a solid answer other then I loved planes. Aviation proves we as human beings can achieve anything, and above the clouds gives me a sense of that achievement, freedom, peace and the added ability to go anywhere in the world! Not only is being a pilot the opportunity to travel and see the world from a birds eye fly, its a skill I love, thrive in and can't wait to purse as my profession.
My road to becoming a Pilot has lead me to many experiences I would have never thought I would have. Once I reached 12 I became a Civil Air Patrol Cadet and had the opportunity to fly on a Black Hawk Helicopter, stay a week on a National Reserve base and of course obtain some hours towards my license. I would never forget my time their.
My parents made a huge decision and decided to move us across Country to Florida to be closer to my dreams! There was not many opportunities for H.S students in the north. The move was stressful and scary but carefully thought-out so that I could be enrolled in a H.S that puts me one step closer to my goal. Now that I am of age and have been accepted into Embry Riddles ground school course because of my past grades and commitment, it is time for me to buckle down on my hours for my Private Pilot License! This comes at a heavy cost my parents would not be able to afford. The course will be a year long and will be given to me for free with the expectation that I complete 40 hours of flight training on my own by May 2022.
Since the pandemic, I have not been able to fly, not just for safety precautions but also because of financial uncertainty like most families faced in 2020. Since the world has opened back up, I am now able to continue my journey but unfortunately will not have as much time to span out my training.
As the 2021/2022 school year progresses I am told scholarships that are mainly funded by fellow Pilots and organizations would hopefully be opening back up. If anyone can point in the right direction of some I am unaware of would be great. Each lesson is around $200.00, no amount is too small. I appreciate you all for taking the time to read my story and hope I can start posting my updates with my lessons!
