Help Brendan hammer the Haemorrhage

Donation protected

On Monday 29th of October while Brendan was enjoying the evening with his son Charlie at cricket training he suddenly collapsed. Luckily, he was surrounded by amazing family, friends and the community who stepped up to get him the help he needed until the paramedics arrived.

In true Brendan style and not wanting to be a bother on anyone, while on the way to The Royal Melbourne Hospital Brendan started to question if he collapsed from dehydration ect. Little did he know that his partner Kate was already rushing to be by his side and had been informed by the paramedics that he had had a seizure and it appeared to be neurological.

After waiting for the results of his CT Scan, Brendan and his family were told he had one of the largest cerebral aneurysms they had seen and he had to have surgery the next morning to clip it. He had not suffered a stroke however the operation meant there was risk he could. The operation took 7 hours, by far the longest day of Kate’s life. The operation was a success but unfortunately the neurosurgeons have found 2 smaller aneurysms on the other side of his brain so he will potentially need more surgery.

Brendan will remain in the Neurosurgical ward at The Royal Melbourne Hospital for quite some time and then will need to undergo rehabilitation.

With two beautiful kids at home, Charlie 9 and Anna 7, both in primary school, the events of the last week have had a huge impact on not only Brendan but also his young family. Brendan will be off work for some time, his health being the most important priority. Being the main bread winner and not having any financial support from any other agencies this is how we can all help.

The funds will go directly to Brendan and his partner to help with the day to day costs of running a house hold and hopefully relief some of the financial burden and stress so the family can just focus on his recovery.

No donation is too small and will all be so greatly appreciated.
