In September of 2019, I began receiving medical treatments for ulcerative colitis which is an inflammatory disease. In November 2019, I began working a new job at an amazing company. Shortly after in December, I was diagnosed with a rare and sever form of psoriasis as a result of an allergic reaction to this "medicine". This form of psoriasis is also known as palmo-plantar pustulosis. It causes your skin to grow much faster than normal. It begins with dozens of red pimple like sores and is prominent in the palms of the hands and the souls of feet. Symptoms also include hives all over the body. This allergic reaction has severely damaged my hands and feet leaving me unable to work. In addition it has also neagitively affected the quality of my daily life, and the medical expenses have driven me into financial burden. The symptoms are extremely painful. It hurts to walk and stand for brief periods of time. My hands have been significantly damaged and daily tasks have become difficult. The doctors are not sure exactly how long it will take for me to heal and I am in the process of seeking disability assistance until I am "back on my feet". Unfortunately, there is no guarantee I will even qualify to receive benefits and if I am lucky enough to do so, compensation wouldn't begin for 2 to 3 months. I have always been hard working and independent and have never been comfortable asking for help or place my burdens on the shoulders of others. However, I have been put in an extremely difficult situation due to unfortunate circumstances that are out of my control. All I want is to get back to work and have control over my life. I am humbly seeking for the help of friends and loved ones. Throughout my research of this illness, my eyes have been opened to how many people suffer from psoriasis worldwide. In the future I am going to be vocal about my experience in attempts to raise awareness and fundraising for others who suffer from this debilitating disease. My will is strong and I know I will overcome these trying times. I am beyond grateful for any and all support!Humbly, Brendan
