Expecting Parents Rescued by Boat After Waukesha Flood

On Saturday night, Alexis and Brendan — a young couple in Waukesha, WI, just weeks away from welcoming their first baby — were awoken by a knock at the door. The Waukesha Fire Department was there to warn them: rising floodwaters posed an immediate danger, and they needed to evacuate immediately.

In the chaos, they grabbed what they could — including their beloved cat, Akoli — and waded through waist-deep water to safety. By the time the water receded, the damage was overwhelming: more than 4 feet of water had filled their home, destroying the basement, damaging the garage, and ruining countless personal belongings.

Alexis and Brendan are kind, hardworking people who have built a life together in this home. They have spent months preparing for the arrival of their baby, creating a safe and loving space.
