So as all of us living in the bay area already know, San Jose experienced quite a bit of flooding in certain areas on Feb 21st. Unfortunately, we have some family that was living on one of the streets that was evacuated because of these floods. Brenda (my mother-in-law), Ashley (my sister-in-law), and her four year old daughter (my niece) lost much of their furniture, clothes, and toys to the contaminated water. On top of all that, they were unable to find their beloved 16 year old cat at the time of the flooding and when they came back today to go through their things, they found her body down the street from them. Nothing will replace her and sadly, her insurance will not cover the material items lost. Their home is very old so it did not hold up well against the water and they will no longer be able to live there but have themselves as well as three dogs to take care of. We are doing all we can to help them as a family in terms of food and shelter, but financially the cost is still a bit high. I'm setting up this page for them because we've had a few friends express the wish to help them with all these expenses. If anyone else wants to donate, we would be very grateful as well. Brenda and Ashley have helped Mario and I in more ways than we can count since we had our children and our only hope is to help them get back on their feet.
