Brenda Ramirez Retana moved to Toronto all the way from Mexico with her husband and their two children back in April of 2018. Before they had even settled down, however, her husband suddenly left them and went back to his country, leaving her in a strange country all alone with her young children. From that moment on, Brenda had to take on the role of both a mother and a father without receiving any sort of financial help because she wasn’t settled in Canada yet. These past three years she’s been working nonstop to provide for her children's basic needs by working two jobs.

As a result of this stress and her enormous efforts to keep her family a float, her health began to deteriorate dramatically. A year ago, she was diagnosed with menorrhagia, which has caused acute anemia. The medical staff treating her are still unable to control the anemia, and the treatments she's undergoing, from weekly injections to biweekly blood transfusions, have so far yielded no results. And despite all this, for the sake of her kids, she continues working nonstop, without a day off to rest. This has led to her feeling ill all the time, fatigued and weak. This has caused her to suffer from intense attacks of dizziness and unable to control the severe bleeding caused by menorrhagia.

In light of all this, and after many months of suffering and pain, her doctors have decided to perform surgery in order to help eliminate the menorrhagia. The procedure is called a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus and womb). This is the only solution the doctors have come up with, since at this stage her anemia is severe and she can no longer handle the intense bleeding she is experiencing.

And because of this, we are asking for your help to help her. The surgery is very expensive and it is scheduled for October 8th, 2025. Since her status in Canada is not yet regularized and she is in the middle of her immigration process, Brenda has no financial assistance; the bit of money she has is enough for her and her children to live, and it comes from the great effort she puts into her two jobs.

We want to help her so that she can afford the surgery and any medicine needed, so that she can once again be the strong, and vibrant woman she always was. And once she is restored to better health, she will be able to settle down in Canada and fulfill the purpose that brought her here: to give a future full of hope and opportunities to her two children, Luis Angel and Jaretzi.

A través de este medio queremos ayudar a Brenda y sus dos hijos a atravesar el difícil momento por el que están pasando.

Brenda Ramirez Retana llegó a Toronto con quien era su marido y sus dos hijos en abril del año 2018. Cuando todavía no había terminado de establecerse, su marido decidió volver a su país dejándola a ella sola aquí con los chicos muy pequeños. A partir de ese momento, viéndose sola con sus chicos Brenda tuvo que hacerse cargo de toda esa responsabilidad sin ninguna clase de ayuda debido a que todavía no están estabilizados en Canadá. Lo que ha hecho en estos últimos tres años ha sido trabajar sin parar para poder dar a sus chicos las necesidades básicas, sin contar con ni siquiera un día de descanso semanal debido a que tiene dos trabajos.

Por consecuencia de toda esta situacion de estres y sus grandes esfuerzos por trabajar sin descansar, su salud comenzó a deteriorarse rotundamente, al punto que hace no más de un año fue diagnosticada con menorrhagia, lo cual le ha producido una anemia aguda, la cual todavía no ha podido ser controlada por el personal médico que la está tratando, ni por los tratamientos a los que se está exponiendo, desde inyecciones semanales hasta transfusiones de sangre cada dos semanas, lo cual hasta ahora nada de esto ha dado resultado. Igual así ella continúa trabajando sin parar, sin un día libre para poder descansar. Esto la conduce a sentirse mal en todo momento, fatigada, sin fuerzas, sufriendo de múltiples e intensos mareos, y sin poder controlar el severo sangrado debido a la menorrhagia.

A todo esto y después de muchos meses de sufrimiento y dolores su médico ha decidido hacer una cirugía para ayudar a desaparecer la menorrhagia, el procedimiento se llama histerectomía,(extracción de útero y matriz) esta sería la única solución a la cual los médicos han llegado ya que a esta altura de su severa anemia ella ya no puede continuar teniendo las intensas hemorragias que está padeciendo.

Decidimos ayudarla ya que la cirugía es muy costosa y está pronosticada para este próximo 8 de octubre. Al no tener su estatus regularizado en Canadá, ya que está en medio de su proceso migratorio, Brenda no cuenta con ninguna clase de ayuda económica, solo dispone de lo justo y necesario para sobrevivir con el gran esfuerzo que está haciendo en sus trabajos.

Queremos ayudarle para que la medicina este a su alcance y disposición y puedan de esa manera realizar la cirugía que necesita su cuerpo para que ella pueda volver a ser la mujer fuerte, dispuesta y llena de vida que siempre fue, y una vez restaurada pueda establecerse en Canadá y cumplir el propósito que la trajo hasta aquí, el de darle un futuro lleno de esperanza y oportunidades a sus dos hijos Luis Angel y Jaretzi.
