Hello! My name is Brenda-Lynn Javier and I am a full time college student majoring in Music Education and I play trombone. This year, I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to march euphonium for The Academy Drum and Bugle Corp. Marching DCI is a dream for hundred of thousands of kids around the country and not many are given the opportunity to. For me, it has been a dream to march DCI and I want to make it a reality. I believe that this experience/milestone will not only turn my dream into a reality but help me improve as a person and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

What is DCI?

Drum and Bugle Corp, or commonly known as DCI, is referred to as "Marching Music's Major League" (or in simple terms the "NFL of marching band")

It is an extremely competitive form of athletic art in which young adults go through rigorous training physically, mentally, and musically to put on a 8-10 minute performance and compete against other corps in their division. These corps go through 80+ days of summer training and touring to multiple states in the US, culminating in the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis in August.

What is The Academy?

Based in Arizona, The Academy was founded in 2001 by Mark Richardson and has been competing in the World Class division since 2007.

My Why

To make my dream a reality, I have started this to help relieve the tuition costs, to grow from this experience, to grow as a musician, and to hopefully inform how much of an impact of what DCI is to thousands of people like me. Tuition costs is upwards of $6000 and that doesn't include flights, new equipment costs, and tour essentials. Despite the high costs I am willing to work hard to chase this experience and grow with it.

With this, I am hoping that I have educated some people on the importance of what DCI is to me and I would be more than grateful if anyone would be willing to share to friends, family, people you know interested in music, or to donate.
