Help Brenda in her fight against her Cancer and Teddys needs

Update 11/19/2024:

Extremely embarrassed to say but our needs have changed drastically as far as the original fundraiser.
On Sep 1- less than a week after Brenda finished radiation, her medicaid benefits were cut off. We have been trying to get insurance (Florida Blue, United Healthcare, Sunshine Health) for her but it seems to be an uphill battle. Meanwhile she is now considered Self Pay at Moffit and has numerous follow ups, scans, pre op, surgery and more aftercare (possible Chemo). Unfortunately we cannot afford her surgery that was scheduled for this week (11/21) so it has been postponed.

What you don't know is that we lost our home. The grants to help cover our expenses while away for those 9weeks came too late nor will they help us with new living accommodations. Our lender would not give anymore extensions or work with FCSF on the grants.
Its frustrating as we did what we were supposed to do. We worked tirelessly for 2 years for the down payment while making sure we had enough in savings for emergencies. We finally were able to breathe.
Cancer took all that away.
As embarrassing as this is our son will have to have a meager Christmas in a crappy motel while Brenda is trying to smile through her depression. We have lost everything that we've worked so hard for. Now we're dealing with her losing insurance right in the middle of her Cancer treatments.
It's not the Cancer that is killing people, it's the lack of medical care that's needed.

Teddy is also back in the hospital. Scans show the previous sepsis caused an infection in his hip and tailbone. He had the infected parts of the bone removed in both areas. He will be hospitalized for weeks to come.

Original:
This was suggested by a friend of Brenda who is also fighting the same enemy.

My beautiful fiance is battling cancer (stage 1 NPC). We found out in Feb 2023, however we have a mentally & physically disabled son (Spina Bifida & Chromosone 13 abnormality) who needed an immediate Spinal Fusion combined with a Spinal Cord Detethering surgery. Brenda did what any mother would do, she put her son's needs first instead if her own.
We were all set for her to begin treatment in February 2024, however we ended up in a major car accident beforehand & Brenda broke her wrist in 3 places which requires surgery & resetting (rebreaking her wrist). So again, it was put off. Unfortunately recent scans show the cancer has spread into her sinus cavity and is very close to blood vessels- so it's now imperative that she begins treatment.

Now here we are May 2024 prepping for all of us to go to Moffitts Cancer Center in Tampa to begin radiation 5 times a week starting June 11th. Moffitts is taking care of lodging for all of us & will cover what insurance does not. Plus transportation to her daily treatments only.

We need help for daily living while there and to keep up with the bills back home.
For the next 2-3 months there will be no income coming in as I must go to help take care of her & our son (who just turned 18 and Brenda had to refile for Social security benefits which can take up to 6mos).
We have had only my income coming in to pay our expenses as she is incapacitated so money is thin.
We have bills to pay back at home with no income for now, as well as only one income for quite a while when she comes home to recover. We will have to somehow come up with money for food, personal care items and transportation costs as our son also has appts in Orlando while in Tampa plus our current & future expenses at home.

Brenda has a beautiful soul who doesn't deserve this. Her previous career which she loved (up until the car accident) was taking care of developmentally and physically disabled adults in a group home & in home care. She would then come home and take care of our son. She has always put others before herself.

But now is her & my time. We need to focus on her needs and recovery without the added financial stress of now and the future. She shouldn't have to worry about if she will have a home to come back to recover at.

Her battle is our battle & we will stand together as a family to defeat this evil.
We can't do this alone. We need help.
