In recent months, Brenda has experienced significant health issues that have caused her to become wheelchair-bound and need full-time assistance transferring from her wheelchair. Brenda’s strength and courage in facing these lifestyle and mobility adjustments is admirable. Yet, the high costs of needing full-time care mean that her financing challenges equal her health challenges.

The path she’s pursuing is home health care, which offers the most affordable type of care and also the most independence. Until recently, Brenda had been self funding that care, but now she needs assistance in covering these costs until she is approved for her new insurance plan. She has applied to switch to a new type of health insurance that will help cover her new home health care costs, but that process takes several months to complete and requires proof that you have already depleted your own funds for care. Because she has reached the latter but is still in the application stage, there is a gap period of several months where she will need help paying her health care costs.

Our starting goal is to raise funds to cover the cost of four weeks of home care services ($5,040), and we will adjust the goal to cover any additional weeks needed. If there are unmet financial needs beyond the gap period, we will likely create a separate fundraiser; this one is exclusively for the gap period.

We are so thankful for the way so many of you have prayed and cared and loved and given to Brenda during these last few months as she continues to adjust to meet the challenges. We ask that you will consider giving to help her financially during this gap period.
