Obituary
Brenda Lee Class-Peters
“BB”
Brattleboro, VT -
Brenda passed away Tuesday May 16th, 2023 after a long courageous battle fighting cancer. She was surrounded by her family and the love and support of many.
Brenda was born in Hearst Ontario, Canada on April 30th, 1962 (she always made sure to add in the back seat of a taxi). Her first few months of life where in Canada as her parents were stationed there with the US Air Force. She was the daughter to Edward L. Class Senior and Verga Irene (Towle) Kilanski.
Brenda lived in many places including: Brunswick, Maine, St. Albans, VT., Vernon, VT; Winchester, NH.; Brattleboro, VT; and West Chesterfield, NH. She was a New England girl through and through.
Brenda attended school in Winchester, NH. Brenda was a hard worker she started working at a very young age. Most of her jobs were at places that prided themselves in hospitality and Brenda had a spunky spit fire attitude that made her good at her job and often became a reason people would frequent establishments she was working at. Some of the Places Brenda worked at were; The Putney Inn, The Steak Out Restaurant, The Sportsman’s Lounge “Sporties”, The Hollywood, Mike’s, and most recently The Marina Restaurant for the last 26 years!
Brenda was also an accomplished seamstress. She was well known for making Cloth Rabbits with her friend Paula Braun. If you ever visited the Putney Inn in the 90’s you most likely saw them for sale there or as Holiday Display Decorations. Brenda could sew anything from wedding dresses to seats off atvs, snowmobies, and boats. If you needed something mended or made she was your girl!
Brenda was truly a Jill of all Trades, like a female MacGyver!
Besides being a proud workaholic Brenda was a proud mother, grandmother and animal lover. She was always rescuing and feeding wildlife. She had a doggie pit stop station (with treats and water) at her house for people walking by. She was always trying to take care of everyone and everything.
Besides spending time with her family, work family, customers, and friends Brenda loved plants. She had an abundance of house plants and flower gardens. One of her most favorite pass times though was to be on the water. She loved spending her days (and evenings) on the Connecticut River; soaking up the sun, jamming out to music, fishing, and just entertaining her friends and family on her boat. She loved to cook! She was often in the kitchen whipping up something. Some of her favorite dishes to make were her 1 foot thick Lasagna, Spaghetti and homemade Meatballs, and Shrimp Scampi.
Brenda was a people pleaser through and through. She was either making you something, feeding you something, or trying to make you laugh! If you were from the area you most likely met Brenda at one point or another. She was One of a Kind. She will be missed and loved by many forever but surely she will never be forgotten.
Brenda leaves behind her father Edward L. Class (Barbara) of Vernon, VT. Her Sons; Tony Whitten (Kelly Boyce) and Wayne Whitten (Megan Barrows) of Brattleboro, VT. Her Grandchildren Jade, Courtney, Ethan, Bryce, and Adalaina Whitten of Brattleboro and Tonysha Whitten of Randolph. Her siblings; Serena Jean Class of Florida, Michael Edward Class (Rhonda) of Brattleboro, VT, and Edward Lee Class Jr (Brenda) of Vernon, VT. Her Step mother Dorothy Class and step sister Robin Zegge of Bratttleboro. 3 Great Grandchildren; many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, “adopted” kids and grand kids, her Marina family, and countless friends.
Brenda was preceded by her mother Verga Towle Kilanski (John) and many other special people who we know were there to greet her with open arms.
A Celebration of life will be held at The Marina Restaurant on Tuesday June 13th from 4-7pm.

Update : Brenda's condition has progressed and she is now on hospice/comfort care. Thank you to those that love her and have followed along with her journey and shown her love and support ❤️

Hi my name is Megan, most of you know my Mother-in-law Brenda Class-Peters has been battling Breast cancer for 4 years!
Those who know her know she is a real tough cookie, that's why she got her nickname "BB".
Brenda has had a mastectomy and she has tried several rounds of different Chemo treatments. These treatments have made her awfully sick and have caused her to become very week.
She has been only working part time ( 2 days a week) and does not know how much longer she will be able to continue working.
Brenda was recently told by her medical team that the current Chemo has not been doing what it needs to and they are concerned.
They basically have given her 2 options; to take a break from Chemo and then give 1 other Chemo treatment a try (they are only are estimating it to have a 15% success rate) or to stop treatments all together and just try to enjoy the quality of life she currently has at this moment.
Brenda has fought for 4 Long years and she is Not Giving Up! She has chosen the option to take a break between Chemo treatments and try to regain some strength! ❤️
It has been suggested to her to Stop working... she needs to rest and try to regain some stength. She needs to not "overdo it".
Brenda does Not want to give up working, she LOVES to work, she Loves her work family, and she Adores her customers. Unfortunately working just 2 days a week has been a struggle physically and financially.... and Now she doesn't know how much longer she will be able to work at all.
She needs your Help!
Brenda is a very prideful person and hates to ask for donations or help but we know she has lots of people that love and care about her so we have set up this gofund me as a place that people can show her some love and help her out monetarily so she doesn't have to worry/stress so much about paying rent, bills, other living expenses, and medical expenses that she continues to incur and instead she can focus on Healing and continuing to Fight this battle she has been dealt.
