BREE'S INJURY THAT REQUIRES SURGERY:
On January 29, 2023, I suffered an injury to my ankle resulting in a fully ruptured achilles. I learned on Friday, February 10, 2023, that I would need to undergo surgery the following Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Ordinarily, my insurance would take care of any medical related expenses; however, due to my husband's previous unemployment, I was forced to downgrade from a low deductible health insurance plan, to a high deductible health insurance plan. Currently, I have not met my deductible, which will require me to pay for most of the medical fees out of pocket ($4000).

I have been raised to be a strong, independent woman of God, and it has worked to my advantage most times. I'm not a person who likes to ask for help often; it may be pride, but it's also because I realize that everyone struggles with something, and I'm no greater than the next person. Because of this desperate situation, I am putting my pride aside and seeking help with covering my medical expenses related to the upcoming surgical procedure. If you find it in your heart to give, we would be forever grateful. It would be a blessing to me and my family, and I hope and pray that I can continue being a blessing to this community as well.

BREE'S STORY:
Hello, my name is Khabriyah(Bree) Cunningham. I am a wife, to the best husband, Cedrick Cunningham, and mother to three beautiful children, Isla, Dawson, and Ashlyn. For the last four years, my family has struggled financially and emotionally! In 2018, my husband and I experienced a miscarriage in February, followed by a stillbirth on October 17, 2018. While the word of God encourages us to grieve with purpose, 2018 and every year after has been difficult to navigate. The next year we welcomed our daughter and adjusted to the changes that accompanied her arrival. In 2020, when Covid hit, my husband had difficulty maintaining employment as he previously worked as a welder. This job presented many health issues; on two occasions, my husband was treated at a medical facility for Rhabdomyolysis, a condition that significantly affects the kidneys. Fortunately, his condition was not as severe; however, we soon learned that welding would no longer be an option. Since then, with God's grace and provision, we have survived perilous times with only one stream of income. We are firm believers that God provides, as it is only by his favor that we are still standing today. My husband recently found work as a backroom stocker at Walmart. While this change did bring in more income, it only scratched the surface in what we owe others and what we need to sustain our family.

I am currently employed with Georgia's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities as a Regional Behavior Specialist. I've maintained my position for two years and am grateful for the opportunity to serve a demographic of people who heavily depend on external support and require fair, just advocacy. In addition, I serve on the worship team at First Presbyterian Church, where I have had the opportunity to grow and use what God has blessed me with, to bless others for the last six years. I also serve as the Coordinator for Red Hills Worship, a collective brought together by the Holy Spirit to create a space for fellow believers, and non-believers, to bask in the presence of Jesus. God has also allowed me the privilege of advocating for school-aged children (on a volunteer basis) receiving special education services in the city and county school systems. It is my passion to help and serve God's people as Jesus did, the truest example of love.
