Help Bree and Mazie start over again after the Eaton Fire
Donation protected
My cousin, Bree Howard, recently moved to Altadena with her cat Mazie to start over, after honestly facing a lot of loss for a young-ish person. I remember marveling at her strength when she spoke at her father’s memorial after his sudden death. Then I watched her rise to the impossible occasion of fiercely and lovingly caring for her mother through cancer, during a pandemic. When Bree spoke at her mother’s memorial, besides marveling at her strength, I thought, “Okay, can someone please take her to Disneyland or something?”
Bree lost her apartment on East Sacramento St. (near Lake Ave.) and all of her belongings (including irreplaceable family photos and mementos that connected her to her parents) in the Eaton Fire. She was able to save her cat and herself and flee to a generous family friend’s house in Silverlake, which we are all incredibly grateful for, but it is still just heartbreaking.
I wanted to reach out to the go fund me cosmos to see if we can collectively support Mighty Mazie and Braveheart (but not like Mel Gibson) Bree as they begin again. Rent in LA was awful before these fires and now it’s … well, we’re just gonna do our best here. Any funds raised will go toward Mazie’s pet deposit and Bree’s security deposit as they find a new place to call home. Too many LA people and animals need help right now (it’s unfathomable) so any amount is appreciated (it can truly be like buying her a coffee -- like not even a good coffee) and if you feel up to it, please send her a message of support (I personally love a “hang in there baby”).
Thank you from the bottom of my Los Angeles heart,
Bree’s cousin and fellow Angeleno currently perched between two fires
(I’ll take a “hang in there baby” too),
