On December 4th my world shattered following the sudden death of my mother after a brief illness. My mother was healthy, strong, and showed no immediate signs of any sickness.
On November 28th I arrived home from work to find my mother in her bedroom suffering from hyperglycemia. She was alive but unresponsive. I immediately called 911 and she was taken to the ER. Soon after we discovered that her blood sugar level was at 1600. This sent her body into diabetic shock which then caused a cardiac arrest. She was worked on for 27 minutes before her heart started beating again but the damage was done. For six days we hoped and tried everything possible to bring her back to us and finally on December 4th we had to make the hardest decision of our lives and took her off life support. She passed quickly afterwards with both her children in the room. Following her death I have worked on saving money to pay the mortgage on my house. On March 1st I will owe over $11,000 to bring the house up to date. I am starting the process of moving in a roommate into the house to help pay for the mortgage in the future but my situation is very difficult. Although I have managed to save up for the majority of the cost by cashing out my retirement pension I will need more help to buffer the cost until the rooms are filled. As if there wasn’t enough stress I found out soon after that my HVAC system is in need of repairs but my home warranty will not cover the cost due to a missing surge protector on the unit. The cost of repairs is over $2,000 and I cannot afford to pay for it and the mortgage. I don’t like asking for help but I am in dire need of help and support.
