Help Breathing Waters & Nice Plants Rebuild!
Donation protected
A little over a year ago, I connected with Breathing Waters Garden in Arabi, Louisiana.
Where artists, vegetables, and rare plants grow together.
Where artists, vegetables, and rare plants grow together.
Jacob spearheads a community hub for creative entrepreneurs in St Bernard Parish. The studios at the garden support production space for a dozen independent artists in GNO. We host community gatherings and events throughout the year and grow beautiful sustainable heirloom flowers and food.
Jacob, and his Partner Joe Grey, founded Nice Plants Good Pots, which cares for and cultivates some of the rarest and most unusual plants you can find in the American South.
On March 22, 2022, a tornado came through our neighborhood and flattened the garden, greenhouses, and next-door building! We are only starting to understand the toll and cost of the damages.
To rebuild will take time, lots of people-power and MONEY. Probably a lot more money than we are asking for now, but we need to get funds together to rebuild the greenhouses and save the plants we still have!
What we lost:
-3 greenhouses structures
35x56 hoop house 20x20 hoop house and a 12x20 hoop house (30K)
-20+ shelving racks( $50 each)
-Dozens of handmade ceramics
-Hundreds of irreplaceable plants (over 20k in value)
-Warehouse AC unit ( 4 ton ac unit)
-Ceramic Kiln and kiln shed ( Olympic Kiln - 2323HE)
-1 to 2 months loss of revenue due to reconstruction of infrastructure
-DEMOLISH & REBUILD Operational Infrastructure!! Fans, irrigation, heaters, pots, soil, and so much more!
Thank you for your support!
Look out for updates and promotions of plant sales, art auctions, and crawfish boils to raise more funds after cleaning this place up!
