Hi, I am Breanna's dad Basil, some of you know by now but many of you don't, that my daughter (one of my twin daughters) was unfortunately involved in a very serious accident at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego, CA on October 18, 2021. Breanna and a friend were at the cliffs, when she went to stand up she slipped and fell down a 45-50 foot cliff. Her friend quickly tried to rush to her aid but it took him some time to get to her as it was very dark and extremely hard to see. Aside of the dangerous, slippery sharp rocks and high tide, he would have to swim to her. It was high tide and getting to Breanna was imperative. When he got to Breanna she was found face down in a bed of kelp half washed up on the shore. He turned her over and she was responsive but definitely gravely injured. He got her higher up onto the little piece of land and went back to call for help, to learn when he got back up someone had already called. It took life flight another hour to get to her but once they got to her they rushed her to the trauma center at Scripps La Jolla Hospital. She was still responsive when she arrived but her body shattered. She had a small brain bleed, thank God...her brain was ok, but her jaw shattered (which she currently has completely wired shut as because of the extent of the damage they need to wait for the bone to begin to grow back on its own so they can work with it at a later date, in the mean time it will remain wired shut for about 6-8 weeks, she had stitches but they have installed a small plate in chin and stitched her up), she broke many ribs, she had a collapsed lung (they also found salt water in her lungs and seaweed so she was under water for some time), she shattered her pelvis front and back (they have done the reconstructive surgery already on that), and her femur was shattered (they also did the reconstructive surgery on that already), they put in a trach to help her breath as they put her in a medically induced coma for the first 4 days of her stay in the Trauma ICU. She has just had the trach removed and will be transferred to another hospital some time next week. She will begin her rehabilitation there with a minimum stay of 3 weeks. She is making progress each day but has and extremely long road ahead. We currently live on the 2nd floor and need to purchase a chair lift to get her up and down the stairs as carrying her is not an option as her pelvis and femur are extremely fragile. We need to get her a bed that has a lift, and will also need many different pieces of medical equipment that insurance does not cover. I will be taking time off work to assist her with basic daily needs, learning to walk again etc. I am reaching out to all of you who know and love Breanna, I ask you for your prayers, and if you are able to donate anything to assist us as Breanna's life just completely changed and she is going to need alot of help. Not only did her life change as did that of our family and house hold as we want to make her as comfortable at home as possible and get her back on her feet and back to the Bre Bre we all know and love. Thank you so much in advance.
