Help Break Your Fast Stay Afloat

My name is Jennifer Lee and I'm the owner of Break Your Fast in Union City, CA. We've been serving brunch to our community for over 11 years now and we still do so with love for our hometown.

As with every other business during the pandemic, we relied on government loans to help get us through lockdown. With those loans as well as the consistent support of our regulars we made it through that crisis and I am extremely grateful.

It's been 4 years and I feel as if we are in more of a crisis now than we were before. Business never really reverted back to what it used to be, and despite adjusting our prices to try to keep up with the rising cost of operations, I find myself consistently wondering if we have enough money to run payroll or pay our rent and other bills, as well as trying to slowly pay off the large government loan we took out during the pandemic. Ironically this loan was supposed to alleviate financial hardship, but the hardship never really went away, did it?

I know that our situation isn't unique and that many, maybe most, small businesses all around the nation are struggling. I've written to our local and state legislature about this, asking them if they're aware of how many locally loved establishments are shuttering because it's just not financially feasible to run a small business in this economy.

I'd like to think that Break Your Fast is a community establishment. And I love this community and I love being given the opportunity to serve my city, make connections with individuals and watch families grow and flourish . I'm humbly asking our community to support us so that we can stay afloat and potentially flourish again while we try to come up with more practical ways of running the restaurant efficiently.

The funds donated will be used in all aspects of this business; from rent, to payroll, to paying off credit card debt racked up during the pandemic.
