Hi, we are Kathie and Tony Rizzo and we are the proud grandparents of Brayden Rizzo- Fitzgerald, who is currently three years old. Brayden has been diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of speech (CAS). CAS is a rare neurological disorder that makes it extremely difficult for children to speak and be understood, even though they know exactly what they want to say. Brayden’s receptive language skills are very high but unfortunately his expressive language skills are low due to apraxia.

Brayden is bright, loving, and determined little boy who loves to do the same things as other kids his age do. But everyday is a challenge when it comes to communication. Apraxia requires intensive, specialized speech therapy multiple times a week-the kind not always fully covered by insurance or available through the school system. We have already seen some progress, but consistent support is absolutely crucial for Brayden at this time as Brayden just completed an apraxia study with the best SLP in our state that is specialized in CAS. Consistent support is absolutely crucial for Brayden to gain a voice. At this time, the out-of- pocket expense is quite hefty for them to handle as they are a young family with a new baby and everything sadly today is so expensive nowadays.

We are raising funds to help cover:

1.) Private speech therapy sessions with apraxia specialists

2.) Travel costs to therapy centers

3.) At -home speech tools and educational materials

4.) Any additional support Brayden needs along the way
