Hi everyone, my name is Alysa York and I’m reaching out as a loving mama facing one of the hardest moments of our journey.

My sweet 8-year-old son Braxton will be undergoing hip surgery soon due his CP the tone of his muscles dislocated both hips. At the time Orthopedic surgery didn’t want to perform surgery due to braxton wasn’t in any pain or discomfort. As months went by his hips got worse. While this surgery is necessary to help him move and live more comfortably, it’s a big step for both of us physically, emotionally, and financially, especially with Braxton having a scary cardiac event two years ago, due to a failed gtube surgery. So I am nervous. But as his full-time caregiver, I will need to take care of him extensively to be by his side during his surgery and recovery. This surgery will be pretty invasive they call it a salvage surgery as a last resort for the hips. The hip bones will be cut in his tendon will be cut as well due to it shortened which is popping up his leg . With him being non verbal and non ambulatory its all on me to care for him. Braxton is currently experiencing daily pain in his hips, the pain makes it hard for him to sit comfortably in his wheelchair. Which breaks my heart. We’ve explored other options, but at this point, surgery may be the only path to give Braxton relief.

Between traveling to and from Rady’s childrens hosital in San Diego due to his complex medical background. With that being said the aftercare & medical needs that he will need at home to keep him comfortable, and the financial weight of travel is alot rn with this new move. That’s why I’ve started this GoFundMe for help bridging the gap so I can focus on what matters most: helping my son heal.
