Help Brave Luna Beat Leukemia!

Dear Friends and Family,

It is with a heavy heart that we break this devastating news to you. Our close-knit Jay’s family has been struck with the sudden news of our beloved Chef Roberto’s 5-year-old granddaughter, Luna, being diagnosed with leukemia. We are reaching out to you as a plea for help to rally around precious Luna and Luna’s family, Chef Roberto (grandfather), Desi (grandmother), Roberto Jr. and Sandy (father and mother), Christian (brother), and Roberto lll (baby brother) during this incredibly difficult time.

Luna is 5 years young and has a heartwarming outlook on life. She finds joy in waking up every morning to pick out and put on a colorful dress as vibrant as her spirit. If you know Luna, you know she is a total girly girl. Along with her passion for fashion, Luna loves pre-K where she eagerly immerses herself in the wonders of learning and creating. The true treasure in Luna’s life is the bond she shares with her cherished family and siblings. With a warm and welcome nature, Luna befriends all she encounters, spreading kindness with her heart of gold.

Luna’s journey began about a month ago when her normally cheerful, loving personality changed to fatigued. Soon after, Luna had a high fever that seemed to just not break. With the combination of a high fever and behavioral change, Roberto Jr. and Sandy decided to seek professional help and took Luna to the doctor where she was prescribed medication for strep throat. After keeping an eye on Luna’s symptoms for the allotted time recommended by the doctor and seeing no positive improvements, Luna’s family rushed her to CHOC Hospital where she underwent extensive blood work and a bone marrow test ultimately leading to her diagnosis: B Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Her family’s life instantly turned upside down and our hearts shattered.

Amid this storm, it is important to mention that Luna’s grandfather, Chef Roberto, has been a source of joy and inspiration for all who have had the pleasure of working with him and meeting him. He has always been an integral part of our Jay’s family and community, and now it is our turn to support him and his family.

Fighting leukemia demands extensive treatment and chemotherapy. With already mounting bills and more to come, we would like to lift what we can from their burden. Your generous donations will make a tangible difference in Luna’s life by helping cover medical expenses, hospital stays, specialized treatments, and the necessary adjustments to their new daily lives during this battle.

We kindly ask for your support in spreading the word about our GoFundMe and if you have the means, please donate. Every donation, no matter the size, will provide hope for Luna, Roberto, and their family.

Luna’s family continues to stay strong and thank God every day for their support system. We are determined to see Luna through the good and bad days and all that lies ahead with the help of our community and loved ones.

With love,
Linda Loaeza and the Jay’s Catering Family
